Deux ans après le succès rencontré par le songwriting indie teinté d'electronica de «Manipulators» (Greed Recordings, 2003), Moonman revient avec un nouvel album taillé pour la scène: «Necessary Alibis».
Cette fois-ci, les machines se taisent pour laisser place à une indie pop racée et singulière, naviguant entre hymnes existentiels truffés de mélodies en abîme ("Necessary alibis", "Bunch of liars"), post-rock inquiétant et torturé aux guitares lumineuses ("Mascara and glitch", "Victim of your own device") et aventures acoustiques subtiles agrémentées de glockenspiel, mellotron et violoncelle ("Smother", "Female democracy","Self-made man").
L'album se referme sur une quadrilogie ("Team Of Secret Rivals"), qui se nourrit aussi bien de post-punk instrumental survitaminé que de drone à la fois lourd et cristallin pour ensuite offrir un final apocalyptique dans lequel on assiste à un duel de guitares sans scrupules entre Moonman et Lunt (Unique records) sur fond de spoken word de Sandra (Another Record) avec un texte magnifique du poète américain Patrick Porter.

Two years after the successful release of “Manipulators” (Greed Recordings – 2003), Moonman is back with a brand-new album entitled “Necessary alibis”.
This time, the machines are switched off and moonman blesses us with a collection of 14 new tracks of singular and catchy indie-pop, cleverly sailing between existential hymns stuffed with interwoven melodies and patterns (“Necessary albis”, “Bunch of liars”), tortured and disturbing post-rock with luminous guitars (“Mascara and glitch”, “Victim of your own device”) and subtle acoustic ventures with glockenspiel, mellotron and cello arrangements (“Smother”, “Female democracy”, “Self-made man”).
The album closes on a quadrilogy (“Team of secret rivals”), which feeds itself as much with lively and complex instrumental post-punk as with both heavy and crystal-clear drones to offer an apocalyptic final part in while one witnesses an unscrupulous guitar fight between moonman and Lunt (Unique records) with a background of spoken word voices by Sandra (Another Record) on a magnificent poem by American writer Patrick Porter.
